Aside from our busy schedule visiting cultural institutions all over Rome, we have been assigned with the task to create a cultural institution of our own. However, we need the help of all creative minds (all fields are welcome to participate!). So We’re Ending Our Session in Florence…

Our second module of our masters is ending. After a tedious semester, tomorrow we all are set to freedom (for about one month) and then we start our adventure in Rome! If you have been following us, you know that we’ve been busy with projects and events. Here is a little comic relief for your watching. It may not be ‘Friends’ material, but after your long week at work or school, its our T.G.I.F post for you!

F’8′ di Gennaio: Florence Defined.

Once again, we have to apologize for our lack of posting. This period in Florence has been a very busy one! Aside from all the food consumed this past month (the biggest benefit of the holidays, right?) we, as a class, executed our first outdoor exhibition!

On January 8th, in collaboration with Villa Romana, an art residency here in Florence, we executed a posting event, exhibiting a piece German artist, Daniel Maier-Reimer, displayed ‘defining’ the city of Florence.

The picture was unveiled in Piazza degli Ottaviani for all of Florence to see until January 12th. He captured his picture, after completing a 5 day long journey on foot around the city. Maier-Reimer will be one of the four artists completing a residency at the Villa in the year 2013.

After a semester of hard work, the first part of our event has been realized. Yes, I did say: first part. We are now working on creating the second part of our event, which will be held in early February. So until then, be patient with our lack of posts…oh yeah, and wish us luck!

Street Art….in Florence?

If you are ever in Florence and see street signs with a black silhouette taking away the no entry bar or doing any other mischievous deed: it is not a mistake. You are probably witnessing a piece of the everyday humor artist ,Clet Abraham, likes to depict using street signs . The French Designer has been living in Italy for over 20 years and uses this expression of art in a way of depicting daily life. And lucky us, our class had the pleasure of meeting him!

Our Blog…is Back!

Yes, we are sorry for being on hiatus for so long….Italy is just that much fun (or possibly we are drowning in school work) we will leave it to your judgement. Anyway, just to fill everyone in-we are completing the second module of our masters in Florence. Transitioning from Venice to Florence was a challenge (goodbye water….hello cars!) but ‘insoma’ its been a good three months. Here is a quick summary of what you’ve missed:
